Untitled by Elizabeth Marks Nakamarra

Elizabeth Marks Nakamarra was born in 1959. She began painting after her husband, Mick Namarari Tjapaltjari, passed away. The main site referred to in Elizabeth’s paintings is the Lightning and Rain Dreaming site of Kalipinpa, north of Kintore. In Mythological times a huge storm erupted in this area causing the lightning to flash and the water to rush across the land filling the rockholes and forming small creeks. This painting has stunning three dimensional qualities. Elizabeth’s work is present in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, Artbank and others. Cat. 706077
