Piltardi by Tjinkuma Wells

Tjinkuma Has painted the story of Malila that happened in a place called Piltardi. Malila had two daughters who ran away with their secret husbands. Because Malila was criplle she couldn’t look for her own food. Her daughters didn’t bring her food any more. She went looking for them as far as she could and found them sitting with the families of their husbands. Very angry, she turned into a monster and hit all the family. Then she died. The daughters left their husbands; the husbands decided they should become Wanampi (Rainbow Serpents). The sisters then swallowed the Wanampi and kept them in their throats forever. Cat. TW212-08
