Untitled by Joseph Jurra Tjapaltjarri

Joseph Jurra Tjapaltjarri was born in approx. 1952. He began painting for Papunya Tula in 1986. This painting depicts designs associated with the rockhole and soakage water site of Ngamurrunya, west of Winparrku in WA. A kangaroo slept at this site before traveling far to the south. Tingari men visited the site and gathered ngamunypurru (conkleberries). Joseph’s work is in the collections of many State Galleries, Groninger Museum, Aboriginal Art museum Utrecht, Institute of contemporary Art Chicago and the Holmes a Court Collection. Cat. 502239
